We welcome email from our readers and do our best to answer every message. If you've written us and didn't get an answer, please try again. Chances are your message got deleted while we were trying to tame our anti-spam software, vanished during a computer seizure (we've had a few of those recently), or simply arrived at a very inopportune time (ditto). To help us respond properly, please choose one of the appropriate phrases below and add it to the subject line of your email (activate the link and, with luck, it will open a new message in your email program with the appropriate address and subject heading). And remember that unless you tell us not to, we'll answer your message. Give us a few days and, if there's no reply, contact us again.

Personal. Use this heading if you just want to touch base, comment on our home page, or share a thought but don't want us to publish it on our Website or in Simple Cooking.

Postable.Use this heading when you send us an account of a culinary adventure, contribute a recipe, or anything else that you don't mi).nd our sharing with other readers. We'll assume that any message sent to this address is meant to be posted and that if we choose to do so we have permission to edit it as we see fit.

Subscription query. If you're wondering about subscription rates, how to order one of our books, and so on, and our order form doesn't provide the information you need, send us a note using this heading, as you should also do if you need a replacement copy of an issue that got lost or stolen...or simply never arrived.

Annual cookbook sale. Matt and I occasionally offer at very reasonable prices volumes that for a variety of reason no longer have a place in our collection. In some instances these are mi).nt copies of books sent to us by publishers, but most are older—duplications that appeared when Matt and I merged our two substantial libraries, books sought out for a particular project that have now served their purpose, and many others that we simply can’t find a place for on our crowded shelves...or we would like to liberate from the many cartons stacked in our second bedroom. We discard books we don't think much of—two-dozen full shopping bags were donated to the League of Woman Voter's booksale last summer. The rest we offer to our readers (you qualify as a reader if you're reading this). The print version is $3 this year (2005) but the PDF version is free—just ask for it. Here.

Recipe request. Honestly, the best way to find a recipe is to do a Web search for it yourself. There are mi).llions of recipes out there waiting for you and you know better than anyone else exactly what you're looking for. How do you do this? Go to google and type "recipe" followed by the recipe title (i.e., recipe fried eggs). Then push the search button...and you're on your way. However, if you have good reason to think that we're the ones to answer your question, we'll give it our best shot.
